Pace Bus will launch Phase 2 of the I-90 Market Expansion Program this Monday, December 19, 2016, which includes six new bus routes, improvements to service on five existing routes, a new Park-n-Ride at I-90 and Randall Road, and 25 new 40-foot express buses. These new buses will have free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, comfortable high-back seating, and interior overhead storage. Convenient connections to O-Hare and Chicago are available via the CTA Blue Line at the Rosemont Transit Center.
Pace will introduce two additional park-n-ride stations at I-90/IL-25 and I-90/Barrington Road in 2017. Also, the Illinois Tollway will introduce the new I-90 SmartRoad, which will enable Pace buses to bypass traffic by traveling in a transit-only Flex Lane.
These service improvements were planned in coordination with the Illinois Tollway’s rebuilding and widening of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90). This service expansion is made possible through the work of many partners, including the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Illinois Tollway, Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Cook County, Kane County, Village of Hoffman Estates, and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
