In response to the decennial census of 2010, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) reviewed the functional classification designations for all the roadways located within McHenry County. After review and input from the McHenry County Council of Mayors, IDOT’s recommended functional classification revisions were submitted to the Federal Highway Authority (FHWA) for their review and approval.
On November 2, 2016, the FHWA approved all recommended 95 functional classification revisions for the McHenry County area. Said revisions are effective as of November 2, 2016, and IDOT has updated their maps accordingly. Click here to view FHWA’s 11/2/2016 approval.
